Drugs worth Rs. 7 Lakhs seized in ARC Parcel Sevices Pvt ltd
On 05-06-2013, on reliable information the Drugs Control Officers seized drugs worth Rs.7 lakhs from ARC Parcel Sevices Private Limited ( Transport office) situated at Deewan Devdi, Nizam Bagh, Old City, Hyderabad as the documents for transporting the drugs from Mumbai to Hyderabad and the consignor and consignee were found to be fake.
The seized drugs were said to have been booked by Giriraj Industries, 16, Kazi Seyed Street, Masjid Bunder, Mumbai and transported from Mumbai through the ARC Parcel Sevices Private Limited to Hyderabad is supposed to be delivered in the name of Ishwarlal & Company whose address is not genuine and on enquiry the documents were found to be false.
Mr.Y.V.Sudarshan Rao, Agent of the ARC Parcel Sevices Private Limited, Deewan Devdi, Hyderabad failed to furnish any information as to who booked the drugs from Mumbai and for whom in Hyderabad is to be delivered as Ishwarlal & Company has denied any knowledge of such firm in Mumbai during the investigation by the Drug Officials.
On inspection of the consignment of drugs in the transport office the following drugs were found in Expired condition and are as follows:
Ø Vigora 50-Mouth Dissolving Tablets (Sildenafil Citrate tablets- used for erectile dysfunction)
Ø Vigora Condoms
Ø Agigenta Injection (Gentamicin Injection- antibiotic injection)
Ø Zygenta Injection (Gentamicin Injection- antibiotic injection)
Ø Agidin Ointment (Povidone Iodine Ointment- antiseptic ointment)
Ø Zoxclox Capsules (Amoxycillin + Cloxacillin Caps- antibiotic caps)
Ø Cadithro suspension (Roxithromycin suspension- antibiotic suspension)
Ø Pantacad Injection ( Pentazocine Inj.- Painkiller inj)
Ø Cetcad Tablets (Ceterizine Hydrochloride Tablets- anti allergic tablets)
Ø Lopidus capsule (Loperamide caps- anti diarrheal caps)
As the ARC Parcel Sevices Private Limited have failed to disclose information with proper documents action is initiated under Section 18(c ), 18-A and 22(1)(cca) of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 which is punishable under Section 27(b)(ii) for a term not less than 3 years upto 5 yrs and penalty of not less than Rs.1 lakh or three times the value of drugs confiscated.
Further investigation is on in this case to verify the details at both ends.
